Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Diamond Light School of Healing collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. We keep it to what we need to run courses, treatments and bookings.

Who we are

Diamond Light School of Healing is run by Debbie Thorne, a sole trader at 7 Whitecross Road, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1EP. Debbie is the data controller for this website. You can contact her about anything in this policy at dtholistictraining@gmail.com or on 07905 537118.

What we collect and why

  • Bookings: when you book a course, workshop, treatment or reading we collect your name, email address, phone number and billing address, and the date you chose. We use this to manage your booking, contact you about it, issue certificates and keep the accounts we are legally required to keep. Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you, and legal obligation (tax records).
  • Health information for treatments: before a treatment or practical course Debbie may ask about your health so the session is safe for you (for example, conditions or medication that mean a treatment should be adapted). This is kept confidential, used only for your care, and only with your explicit consent.
  • Contact form and emails: your name, email, phone number (if you give it) and message, so we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in answering your enquiry.
  • Newsletter: if you tick the box to join our mailing list, your name and email are stored with Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp) so we can send course and event updates. Lawful basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Payments: at the moment bookings are paid by bank transfer. We see the payment in our bank account; we never see or store card details.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The booking system (WooCommerce) uses a few essential cookies to remember your basket and keep checkout working, and records which page or website brought you to us when you book, so we know how people find us. If you log in to an account, WordPress sets login cookies. Course videos are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set cookies until you play a video. The map on our Contact page comes from OpenStreetMap: your browser loads the map pictures from openstreetmap.org, which sees your IP address, as any website does.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it with the services that help run the business: our website host (IONOS), Mailchimp for the newsletter, Google (email, and the Google reviews shown on this site, which are loaded by our server, not your browser) and our accountant where needed for tax. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK, under safeguards approved by UK law.

How long we keep it

Booking and payment records are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as HMRC requires. Treatment and health notes are kept for as long as our professional insurer requires. Enquiries are deleted when they are no longer needed, usually within a year. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email dtholistictraining@gmail.com and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
